As part of our continuing efforts to enhance our Services, we have updated our BBM Terms (e.g., Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, Channel and Official Account Terms and Community Guidelines for all BBM users and providers of Services).

For the optimal BBM experience, please provide accurate, complete and true information about yourself to us and keep your information updated. Click here to update your personal information. This is very important, especially when you change your device, phone or phone number! Please take the necessary security measures to safeguard the data in your phone and device!

All views are welcome but please comply with our community guidelines and applicable laws. BBM should not be used for any abusive, derogatory, offensive, pornographic, defamatory, unauthorized or unlawful purpose.

When we or our partners enhance our Services or release exciting products and services we may update you via SMS, e-mail and/or in-app notifications in BBM so that you can stay connected within the BBM community.

About these Guidelines

BBM is a platform which enables and facilitates social media communications, and users’ enjoyment of a wide variety of applications, services and products offered by a diverse and interesting range of businesses of all sizes, from around the world. However, in order to create a fun, safe and positive experience for all users, brands, companies and advertisers, it is important that user interaction meets the following standards:

  1. Be respectful. Don’t defame, abuse, harass, bully, stalk, threaten, harm or otherwise violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity, and contractual or intellectual property rights) of others;

  2. Be courteous. Don’t transmit, publish, post, upload, distribute, disseminate, communicate, display or otherwise make available any inappropriate, harassing, abusive, threatening, defamatory, libelous, slanderous, tortious, profane, infringing, obscene, indecent, offensive, misleading, deceptive, unlawful, or otherwise objectionable topic, name, material or information;

  3. Be lawful. Don’t violate any applicable laws or regulations, or post or transmit spyware, malware, viruses, or any other form of malicious, destructive or corrupting code, agent, program, macro or data or anything that may disrupt service or harm others;

  4. Be truthful. Don’t impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity, or create a false identity to mislead others, or which results in an unexpected, deceptive or unfair experience by others; and

  5. Be relevant. Don’t “spam” others, or solicit subscription to Channel(s) or Official Accounts, the viewership of a post or comment or the submission of Comments & Approvals of others, without their consent, including by duplicate postings, or multiple similar postings, or posting content that is not relevant to the discussion. Our standards are designed to help further our goal of creating an interesting, valuable, creative, and most importantly, enjoyable experience for our users.

It is also important that all content including without limitation, advertisements, chats, channels, comments, feedback, games, identifiers such as BBM PINs, custom PINs, images, links, lucky draws, photographs, posts, promotions, shopping, stickers, news, videos, (collectively, “Content”) must take into account (a) the feedback and concerns from users about the types of content they see; (b) changes in online trends and practices, industry norms, and laws and regulations; and (c) the values and company culture and applicable operational, technical, and business considerations of Creative Media Works Pte. Ltd. (Company Registration No. 201609444E) and its related corporations and affiliates (“CMW Group”). These guidelines are not to be construed or relied upon as legal advice. They are intended only to provide helpful guidance on the form and/or substance of Content that best serve our BBM community and are applicable to all persons and businesses seeking to communicate or otherwise communicate, upload or publish (“publish”) Content on BBM or to BBM users.   1. General Guidelines.
    1. You must not publish Content on BBM that violate these guidelines or any law or regulation of any relevant country. You are responsible to undertake all precautionary measures which include without limitation, effective moderation, to ensure that your Content complies with these guidelines and is not offensive to any recipient, intended or otherwise.

    2. You are responsible and liable for ensuring the appropriateness of the Content in accordance with the age of the recipient. You should take particular care, if the recipient is below the age of 18. Please note in particular, Section 1a. of BBM Terms of Service. If your Content is intended only for a specific target audience (i.e. users of a specific age or older, or who reside in a particular jurisdiction), and the age or jurisdiction of a user cannot be determined, you are not permitted to post or display such Content. Although CMW Group may provide assistance or guidance, CMW Group make no representations regarding the completeness and/or sufficiency of any controls provided, and you are ultimately responsible for establishing legally compliant restrictions for each country where your Content is displayed or placed.

    3. BBM Channels or Official Accounts are intended to permit Channel or Official Account administrators to post and display Content that is relevant to the brand, organization, event or individual featured on the Channel or Official Account. A Channel or Official Account may not be used to display third party advertising and you may not rent, lease or otherwise make available your Channel or Official Account for such purposes.

    4. If your Content includes a link to a web site, the products or services promoted in the Content must be clearly represented on the landing page for such site.

    5. Your Content must not contain prohibited content as detailed below.

    6. Content may not infringe upon or violate the rights of any third party, including copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other intellectual property or proprietary rights.

    7. Content may not imply any affiliation or partnership with CMW Group without our express written authorization.

    8. Content may not depict unverified or real world phone numbers, contacts, addresses, or personally identifiable information without first having obtained legally valid consent of individuals or entities.

  2. Prohibited Content. Content may not include or promote any of the following:
    1. Content must not include or promote pornography, adult or mature content, including text, video, landing pages, links, magazines, books, images, films and/or any other material featuring or suggesting pornography, adult, mature, nudity, partial nudity or sexual content. This includes without limitation to:

      • sexual or erotic descriptions, stories, jokes, links, references, puns, innuendo, forums, bulletin boards, discussion groups, write-ups or blog posts;

      • imagery or video of total, partial, or suggested nudity;

      • imagery or video which show excessive amounts of skin or cleavage;

      • imagery or video containing nudity, breasts, buttocks, genitalia, or other fetishized anatomy or content, whether illustrated or real;

      • imagery or video with see-through clothing or strategically covered nudity;

      • pornographic images, videos, games, cartoons;

      • models in suggestive swimwear or lingerie to promote completely unrelated products;

      • promotional images of sex toys;

      • any content that depicts, describes or encourages bestiality;

      • any content that promote escort services or other services that may be interpreted as providing sexual acts in exchange for compensation;

      • depictions of people in sex acts, explicit or suggestive poses, or activities that are overly suggestive, sexual or seductive; and

      • any content or behavior (images, texts, videos, etc.) that depicts, encourages, or promotes sexual attraction by adults toward minors (i.e., under 18 or such other legal age applicable to your jurisdiction) or sexualises minors.

      You accept that interpretation of what constitutes adult or mature Content may vary across countries and cultures. If you are unsure about whether or not something might be considered pornography, adult or mature Content, the general rules of thumb are: (a) do not publish Content until you are satisfied that the content is compliant, and (b) publish compliant content only to an appropriate audience and, if that is not possible, then do not publish that Content.

    2. False, misleading, fraudulent, or deceptive Content.

    3. Counterfeit and unauthorised goods, including but not limited to replicas or imitations of designer or other goods; fake autographs; currency; stamps; tickets; other potentially unauthorized goods.

    4. Advertising or links to third party content for the purpose of generating revenue from affiliate or other forms of performance-based marketing.

    5. Links to third party content for the distribution or installation of malicious software.

    6. Content or links to third party content on techniques for unlocking technical protection measures, including without limitation mod chips or other devices for circumventing technical protection measures on digital devices.

    7. Hacking and cracking content, including without limitation, manuals, how-to guides, information, equipment that violate the law by damaging or enabling unlawful access to software, servers, websites, or other protected property.

    8. Hate, violence, bullying or discriminatory content, including without limitation:

      • Bullying and harassment, such as frequent, targeted, and unwanted posts and comments focused on an individual

      • Advocating against an individual or protected group (hate groups) based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, age, nationality, gender, political association or any other characteristic that is associated with systemic discrimination or marginalization.

      • Graphic depictions or descriptions of realistic violence or violent threats to any person or animal.

      • Instructions for engaging in violent activities, including bomb- or weapon-making, promote self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, choking games or other acts where serious injury or death may result.

      • Content related to terrorism, such as content that promotes terrorist acts, organized crime, incites violence, or celebrates terrorist attacks.

    9. Alcohol, tobacco, weapons or gambling, except where permitted by applicable law, and only in compliance with applicable law and industry codes, guidelines, licenses and approvals, and only if such Content can be restricted to users of required age and jurisdiction.

    10. Illegal or recreational drugs or drug accessories, including images of the consumption of illicit drugs, triad ceremonies or rituals.

    11. Content that depicts or promotes any cult or any deviant belief or teaching.

    12. Software that contains in whole or in part spyware or malware, viruses, trojan horses or that results in an unexpected, deceptive or unfair user experience.

    13. Content that enables dishonest behaviour or fraud, including without limitation:

      • Content that promotes creating fake or false documents such as passports, diplomas, or accreditation;

      • Content that promotes creation of fake or false identities;

      • Sale or distribution of exam papers, paper-writing or exam-taking services; or

      • Information or products for passing drug tests.

    14. Content of political campaigns. To the extent permitted by any applicable laws and regulations in the jurisdiction where you are located. You have to comply with the laws and regulations concerning political campaign, in particular political campaign through social medias and or internet applications, including without limitation not to upload, broadcast or otherwise any prohibited political campaign contents, such as money politics, threat of violence against the other candidates, disruption against public order, etc.

  3. Consequence of Breach.

    CMW Group shall in its sole discretion, remove any Content that violates these guidelines, and report if it deems necessary, any violation to the relevant authorities without any prior notice to you. Capitalised terms and expressions used in these guidelines shall have the same meanings given to them under the BBM Terms of Service (accessible at https://www.bbm.com/en/legal/terms-of-service.html), unless otherwise stated herein or the context otherwise requires. In cases of egregious or repeated violations, CMW Group may stop you from further publishing Content with us.
